Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
